About Me

Michelle Wilson (They/Them)

Game Master/ maker of worlds/ collector of shiny objects

Not entirely a designer, I like to think of myself as a jack of all trades. While I focus on digital art and 3D modeling, I find my experience in other mediums incredibly useful in my practice.  As a nonbinary and neurodiverse person, I find inclusion and representation very important in my work.  I am very interested in implementing new technologies into my work. My interest in video games and TTRPGs (Tabletop Roleplaying games for the uninitiated) allows me to work towards this in my personal time. I find a lot of freedom in speculative design, and I look forward to breaking social barriers and expectations with it in the future.

Not Within “The Norm”

For me, the default is never enough. In every aspect of my life, I strive to make the most of my surroundings. How can I make the best of my skills within the guidelines, and when can I think outside the box? I know I can never fit in the standard package, so I make sure I stand out.

Creator at Heart

My hands are always doing something. And I excel when they can do more than just fidget. This mixed with my vivid imagination make me great at idea generation and prototyping. My design research often includes sketches and collages that illustrate what I’ve learned and I am quick to make diagrams or models when communicating with my colleagues.

An Eye for Detail

While it has been an obstacle for me in the past, I have learned to use my incredible eye for detail as a tool for finishing projects or reviewing other people’s work. Whether it’s a typo in a newsletter or a continuity error in media, I’ll probably find it.

Learn by Play

My family’s approach to learning has always been “poke it with a stick”. I have always approached learning naturally, letting my curiosity guide me and my mistakes teach me. I take joy in learning new programs and mediums and I often grasp the basics extremely fast. Over the years, this has allowed me to pick up a wide array of technical skills and be able to learn new systems quickly.

Communication Expert

I’ve always excelled in English and I pride myself on being able to communicate effectively and efficiently. I can easily switch between different levels of formality and know how to communicate complicated ideas with the use of visual aids.
